Privacy Policy
We believe you should always know exactly what data the lantern picks up and why. This policy is our commitment to keeping that crystal clear — no smoke and mirrors, just a plain-English rundown of how Night Bass Hunter handles your information when you use the Night Bass Hunter mobile application (the "App") and its companion website at angler0043.com. By using either, you agree to the practices described below.
What Are Your Choices?
Let's start here, because honestly this is the part most people skip to anyway. You're in charge of a few important levers:
- Reset your advertising identifier. Open Android Settings > Google > Ads and tap "Reset advertising ID" (or "Delete advertising ID" on newer devices). This wipes the slate for any future attribution measurement.
- Turn off push notifications. Toggle them off inside the App's Settings screen, or shut them down entirely in your device's notification settings. We will stop sending pings the moment you do.
- Wipe your local data. Use the "Delete All Data" button in the App's Settings screen, or uninstall the App. Either one removes your anonymous identifier, collection progress, streak, and preferences from the device.
- Ask us for a copy or a deletion. Depending on where you live (hello, GDPR and CCPA friends), you may have a right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Drop a note through our Contact page and we'll handle it.
What Information Do We Collect?
The short version: not much, and nothing that identifies you personally. Here's the full picture.
What gets picked up automatically?
From the very first launch, the App generates and stores an anonymous identifier on your device — a random string of characters, not a name, not an email, not anything tied to your real-world identity. It also reads your device language and region setting so menus, prompts, and notifications can show up in a sensible language.
If you grant permission for push notifications, a unique push notification subscription identifier is generated and shared with our notification provider so they can deliver pings to the right device (more on that under "Who Do We Share Data With?" below).
What about advertising and attribution?
To understand how anglers find their way to the lagoon, the App collects:
- Your device's advertising identifier (the Google Advertising ID on Android), used for attribution and basic anti-fraud checks. This identifier is managed by Google Play Services and you can reset it any time in your device settings.
- Attribution data — the source that led you to install the App (e.g., organic search, a specific ad campaign) and the campaign name. This helps us figure out which lures are actually working.
- Install attribution data from the Google Play Store, passed along when the App is first opened.
Our attribution partner, AppsFlyer, also picks up baseline device information (IP address, device model, operating system version) as part of its normal operation — their privacy policy linked below has the full list.
Does the App have a built-in browser?
Yes. The App includes a built-in browser used to display this Privacy Policy and the Support page directly inside the App. That built-in browser doesn't collect any extra data on top of what's already described above, but it does support cookies (including third-party cookies) and local storage in the way any normal browser does. Anything loaded inside it operates under its own privacy practices. Clearing the App's data also clears the in-app browser's cookies and local storage.
What about the Support form on the website?
The App's Support page (served from the website but shown inside the App's built-in browser) lets you reach out to us. If you choose to send a message, you may share:
- Your name and email address
- An optional subject and a description of your question or issue
- An optional file attachment — you can take a photo or video using your device's camera, or pick an existing file (screenshot, image, log, or PDF) through your device's file picker
This information is only sent when you choose to send a support request, and we use it solely to respond to you and resolve the reported issue. The App itself does not access your camera directly — photo and video capture are handled entirely by your device's built-in camera app via the system's standard file picker.
What stays on your device?
Local gameplay data. Your venture name, home-base choice, fish collection, star tiers, rank, streak day count, expedition journal entries, notification toggles, and other in-app preferences are stored on your device only and never transmitted to our servers. Tapping "Delete All Data" in the App's Settings screen or uninstalling the App removes them entirely.
What does the App NOT collect?
For the avoidance of doubt, we promise we're not snooping. The App does not request access to your location, camera (for direct hardware capture), microphone, contacts, calendar, health data, SMS, call logs, or photo library. The only runtime permission requested is the optional push-notification permission on Android 13 and later.
How Do We Use This Information?
Each piece of data has a clear, single job:
- Anonymous identifier — to keep your local progress glued to your install and to help us measure aggregate, non-personal usage patterns.
- Device language — to localize app text and target notifications in the right language.
- Advertising identifier and attribution data — to measure which marketing channels are bringing in actual humans (and to spot install fraud).
- Push notification subscription identifier — so the notification service can deliver the pings you've opted into (energy-full pings, streak warnings).
- Support form submissions — only to reply to you and fix the thing you wrote in about.
Who Do We Share Data With?
We share strictly the minimum needed to run the App. We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to anyone for independent marketing.
- AppsFlyer — receives the advertising identifier, attribution data, and the anonymous identifier to perform install attribution and anti-fraud. Privacy policy: appsflyer.com/legal/services-privacy-policy
- OneSignal — our push-notification service. It receives the push subscription identifier, your device language tag, your time zone, and baseline device information (model, OS version, app version, country derived from IP) as part of its standard device registration. Privacy policy: onesignal.com/privacy_policy
- Google Play Services — manages the advertising identifier and supplies install attribution data on Android. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
Could My Data Travel Internationally?
Yes — our third-party processors operate globally and may transfer data outside your country of residence. Those transfers are governed by each processor's own privacy policy and applicable safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses in the EU).
How Long Do We Keep It?
Identifiers and attribution data are retained only as long as necessary for the purposes above — typically no longer than 24 months from your last app activity. Push subscription identifiers persist with OneSignal until you uninstall the App or revoke notification permission. Gameplay data stored on your device disappears the moment you tap "Delete All Data" or uninstall the App.
How Is My Data Protected?
All data sent to our third-party processors travels over HTTPS / TLS, and we use commercially reasonable measures to keep things safe in transit and at rest. That said, no method of electronic transmission is 100 % secure, so we can't promise the impossible — only that we take the obvious precautions seriously.
Is This App Safe for Children?
The App is a casual collection game with no real-money play and is rated for general audiences (Everyone 10+). It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires a higher threshold). If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
How Will I Know If This Policy Changes?
We may update this policy from time to time — new features, new partners, changes in the law, that sort of thing. When we do, we'll bump the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and any material changes will also be noted inside the App. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
How Can I Contact You?
For any privacy-related question, complaint, or data-access request, please reach out through our Contact page or visit angler0043.com. We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe — faster if there's a fish involved.
